This is a 1990s-era Tigerstripe BDU jacket made by Propper International, Inc., one of the largest manufacturers of military uniforms for both U.S. and foreign contracts. Though not standard-issue for the U.S. military, this coat was produced to military specs under a commercial contract (PI100-96-C-9601) and features a Vietnam War-style four-pocket design in the classic Tigerstripe camouflage pattern.
Tigerstripe was never officially adopted by the U.S. military post-Vietnam but remained popular among Special Forces, SEAL teams, and foreign military aid units. In the 1980s and '90s, Tigerstripe BDUs like this were favored by contractors, law enforcement, and collectors for their distinctive look and practical design.
This particular example is made of a durable 55% cotton / 45% polyester blend, and is tagged size X-Large Long (Chest: Above 45", Height: 71–75"). It retains its original care labels and is in good vintage condition with light wear from age and storage.
